Thank God at all times

Thank God at all times

Hello, thank you so much for clicking on this link, may our good God answer all your prayers in Jesus name. Amen. So last week, we talked about practicial ways to abstain from pre-marital sex. Check it out if you have not done so already, feel free to share it with your friends, siblings, parents or anyone who cares to read. Thank you so much for sharing.

So this week I had a bunch of content to publish but none felt right until the lord dropped in my spirit to write about thanksgiving. Some of us feel like 2018 just went by fast and there is nothing tangible to be super thankful for, but I have been told to tell you to give thanks.

Give thanks to God for every single thing that concerns you. No matter how insignificant it may seem. Our lives may not be as great as we hoped for this year and we are surrounded by testimonies from our peers. Some got promoted, some moved abroad, some got married, some had children, some bought a home while nothing extra-ordinary happened in our lives. But remember what the songwriter said; "count your blessings name them one by one and it will suprise you what the lord has done".

When we count our blessings, it helps us to realise how much God has done. Because we see other people's lives going a certain way, we feel like nothing good is coming out of ours. But do you know the life you have is what Someone else can only ever dream of? Give thanks.

I remember one time this year I was broke because unforeseen things happened that I didn't budget for. If you know me, you know I don't joke with my finances. However, I found myself in a funny situation where I needed a mighty supply from heaven. I began to freak out and go into panic mode. Then Matthew 6:26-34 was laid in my heart and it settled me.
Matthew 6:26-34 (NLT)26 Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are? 27 Can all your worries add a single moment to your life? 28 “And why worry about your clothing? Look at the lilies of the field and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing, 29 yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are. 30 And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith? 31 “So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ 32 These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. 33 Seek the Kingdom of God[a] above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. 34 “So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.
It dawned on me on a different level that God is literally my provider (Jehovah Jireh); my employer is not my provider. I had to move from a place of understanding that God is the one that gave me a job that is making me rely heavily on my salary and not on God. At the end of the drought season, I realised that I didn't get that mighty supply in the form that I had expected. I mean I thought someone will bless me with one big alert or a lump sum of money but nothing happened like I expected. But guess what? It was a great month. I didn't have to beg for food or transport money. I don't know how God did it but I know that each time I went to my money bag, it never ran dry. (My money bag is where I put all my money for my monthly expenses in cash so I can be mindful of my spending). The money I put in my money bag could not have sustained me for that whole month but I don't know how it did. All I know is that God showed up for me. It was a teachable moment for me. I am so thankful.

From my testimony, even though I did not get blessed the way I desired, I was still blessed. This is what happens to many of us, we want God's blessing in a specific way and discount the other ways that he blesses us. We are too focused on our wants sometimes that we forget that God said he will provide all our needs (Philippians 4:19). Take a minute to reflect, even on your worse day or season, did God come through for you? I'm not asking if he came through the way you expected but did he come through for you? Breathe and reflect, you'd be amazed.

Let your soul bless that Lord. Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. See your praise is unique to God. Check out what Jesus said to the Pharisees during the Triumphant entry
Luke 19:40 (KJV) And he answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out.
Our praise is so unique that no other man or living thing can replace its uniqueness. Imagine stones crying out because man made in God's very own image won't praise him? Your praise is very important, don't belittle your praise. Begin to look at your praise (as an expression of Thanksgiving) as an important part of your eartlhy existence and a major part of our heavenly existence as well.

If there is anything we should do as the year comes to an end, it is to give thanks! If you have been asking God for something all year, maybe it is time to stop and thank him instead. I urge you, use the few days of 2018 to thank God.
Psalm 150:6 (NLT) Let everything that breathes sing praises to the LORD! Praise the LORD!
You know God is always good even though sometimes it does not feel like it. But, he is permanently, unconditionally good. His goodness is not based on your actions, his nature is just good.

So yeah, thank God!

"We would worry less if we praised more. Thanksgiving is the enemy of discontent and dissatisfaction." - H.A Ironside

With love,
Bibi.

What does it mean to be complete in Christ?

What does it mean to be complete in Christ? When you look at yourself, what do you see? Do you see someone who is imperfect and lacking in many areas? Do you sometimes find yourself thinking these thoughts? God is angry with me. I’m too dirty and damaged for Him to accept me. Why would God want to be with me when I’m a hot mess. Let me give you a secret, it doesn't matter how you feel or what you think. All that matters is what God has said in His word. His word says you are Complete in Christ! You are whole! Nothing missing, nothing lost, nothing broken! This is not by your deeds or something you are on your own. This is because you're in Christ!  Are you in Christ? Colossians 2:9-10 (NKJV) For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead [a]bodily; 10 and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all [b]principality and power. Colossians 2:9-10 (TPT) For he is the complete fullness of deity living in human form. 10 And our own completeness is now found in him . We are co

Do’s and Don’ts of a spiritual fast

Do’s and Don’ts of a spiritual fast  By Bibi Babatunde-Ikotun Hello, welcome to my blog. If you clicked on this link it’s either you’re fasting already or are planning to fast. The good thing is you’re planning to have an effective fast by seeking all the information you can get on this. I won’t waste much of your time and I’ll get into it. Don’ts of fasting -  Have a Transactional mindset : A long time ago I thought fasting was about doing something so God will bless you. This led to a string of disappointment because I never got what I wanted from him. After all, I deprived myself for God but He didn’t do his part. We must first understand that fasting is not to move God, it’s to help us align with the move he’s made. The bible says in Ephesians 1.3 (NKJV) Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ. God is always on our side, we need not deal with him on a transaction basis. We fast to tra
