So are you a sinner? 😏😏

Do you lie, steal, fornicate/commit adultery, gossip, keep malice, betray people, or exhibit greed? If you answered yes to any options above newsflash, you may not be a sinner.

Often times when we talk about sin we talk about sin as an act like it happens in a vacuum. But nothing is born out of nothing. We can always trace things back to their origin. However, we treat sin like there is no cause and effect relationship to it.

Let's go down memory lane, how did sin enter the world?

Romans 5:12 (TLB) When Adam sinned, sin entered the entire human race. His sin spread death throughout all the world, so everything began to grow old and die,[a] for all sinned.

The sin that you and I commit is not because we want to sin; it is because of what Adam did. We received the Adamic nature that is naturally prone to sin. Sin is the natural dispensation of all man born of flesh. "Romans 3:23 All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God", tells us that before we were born or before we told our first lie, we were already sinners. It's something we could not escape as long as we were born of flesh and blood. Therefore, sin is not a thing that we randomly do just cause we want to, it is the fruit of our nature.

However, when we heard the gospel (1 Corinthians 15:3-4) and believed in Christ (John 3:16) there was a spiritual regeneration that led to the death of our Adamic nature and the birth of a brand new spirit. This brand new spirit has eternal life i.e we (Our spirit) can never die.

Romans 6:4(TLB) Your old sin-loving nature was buried with him by baptism when he died; and when God the Father, with glorious power, brought him back to life again, you were given his wonderful new life to enjoy.

2 Corinthians 5:17 (TLB) When someone becomes a Christian, he becomes a brand new person inside. He is not the same anymore. A new life has begun!

John 1:12-13 (NLT) But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. 13 They are reborn—not with a physical birth resulting from human passion or plan, but a birth that comes from God.

What does this mean for every Christian?
  • We are born of God and not of natural birth, therefore, the Adamic nature is gone. No trace left behind
  • We are free from sin and death because we have eternal life
  • We have full dominion over sin, we control it
  • We are NOT sinners, because a sinner is that who has the Adamic nature
When God is asking us to live a life above sin, he is not asking us to try or struggle. He is asking us to be our new selves. A brand new person with a clean slate, no record of sin exists and will ever exist. Through Jesus, God has forgiven our past, present, and future sins. The blood of Jesus is so precious that it set things in place for eternity. His sacrifice was the perfect sacrifice for all our sins. Basically, we have no business with sin anymore.

Hebrews 10:10 (TLB) Under this new plan we have been forgiven and made clean by Christ’s dying for us once and for all.

Our standing with God has been perfected through Christ by his grace alone. In this our new identity, nothing can ever separate us from the love of God.

Romans 8:38-39 (NLT) And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,[b] neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. 39 No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.

The death of Jesus made gave us a new identity and this identity came with super powers. It gave us the power to do things that are pleasing and acceptable to God. All we have to do is continually stay grounded in our identity in Christ, renew our minds with the word of God and commune with the Holy Ghost regularly.

You may be thinking, so why do I still sin?

Man is a spirit, who has a soul/mind and lives in a body. Even though we (our spirit) is brand new, we still have our old minds. Having this old mind is what drives us to sin because this mind has lived in our old self (Adamic nature) for so long. However, spending time in the word of God helps train our mind to become aligned with our new self (spirit). When our mind is renewed, the sins that easy beset us begins to fade away and we lose interest in it. An unrenewed mind is almost as strong as our old self accustomed to sin, this is why spending time in scriptures should never be underestimated. They seem like mere words but they are powerful enough to help you transform into your identity in Christ.

Romans 12:2(NIV) Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Does this mean a Christian can't sin even if they tried?  No, the unrenewed mind can make you sin. However, a Christian can't have the title of a sinner.

The first question I always get when I share this with people is; "If all my sins are forgiven, why should I not sin?"
  • Sin still hurts God: why should we the children of God intentional hurt our father?
  • It not the real you: A Christian sinning is synonymous to a human being barking, its anomaly that should be swiftly corrected
  • Sin is baggage that slows down your faith walk. I don't know about you but I want to be free to do good works while on earth. I want my crowns in heaven to be a lot.
  • Don't get it twisted anyone who understands grace deeply will never think of it as a permission to sin. Romans 6:15 What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? Certainly not!
So guess what? Every Christian is a saint! 💃💃💃 Feel free to call me Saint Bibi and add saint as your title. Doing this helps to remind you of your true self.

Here is a pretty amazing song that reminds me that I am a child of God and I'm no longer a slave to sin and death. Please listen and be blessed.

"We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin. For when we died with Christ we were set free from the power of sin." - Romans 6:6-7

What does it mean to be complete in Christ?

What does it mean to be complete in Christ? When you look at yourself, what do you see? Do you see someone who is imperfect and lacking in many areas? Do you sometimes find yourself thinking these thoughts? God is angry with me. I’m too dirty and damaged for Him to accept me. Why would God want to be with me when I’m a hot mess. Let me give you a secret, it doesn't matter how you feel or what you think. All that matters is what God has said in His word. His word says you are Complete in Christ! You are whole! Nothing missing, nothing lost, nothing broken! This is not by your deeds or something you are on your own. This is because you're in Christ!  Are you in Christ? Colossians 2:9-10 (NKJV) For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead [a]bodily; 10 and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all [b]principality and power. Colossians 2:9-10 (TPT) For he is the complete fullness of deity living in human form. 10 And our own completeness is now found in him . We are co

Do’s and Don’ts of a spiritual fast

Do’s and Don’ts of a spiritual fast  By Bibi Babatunde-Ikotun Hello, welcome to my blog. If you clicked on this link it’s either you’re fasting already or are planning to fast. The good thing is you’re planning to have an effective fast by seeking all the information you can get on this. I won’t waste much of your time and I’ll get into it. Don’ts of fasting -  Have a Transactional mindset : A long time ago I thought fasting was about doing something so God will bless you. This led to a string of disappointment because I never got what I wanted from him. After all, I deprived myself for God but He didn’t do his part. We must first understand that fasting is not to move God, it’s to help us align with the move he’s made. The bible says in Ephesians 1.3 (NKJV) Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ. God is always on our side, we need not deal with him on a transaction basis. We fast to tra
