Keep on praying

Keep on praying

Firstly, I'd like to say a big thank you to everyone that wish me Happy Birthday and said a prayer for me. I love you from the bottom of my heart and I pray that all your expectations will begin to manifest in Jesus Name, Amen.

I strongly believe that as a believer, our life should be constantly led by prayers. All throughout the day, we have to keep talking to God. I love the way The Passion Translation (TPT) states the scripture below:

1 Thessalonians 5:17 (TPT) Make your life a prayer.

Prayer is the key just like that song we learnt as children. Prayer is communicating with God, the Holy Spirit or Jesus. Whoever is your go-to person of the trinity. As a believer, you have to pray. There is absolutely no excuse to not praying daily. Whether you choose to pray in tongues or pray in your understanding, you just have to pray!

God is in love with you and He wants to be one of the first people you talk to in the morning before you go to bed even those minutes of idleness during the day. I know many times we are told God is your father but when you think of fatherhood as an African, you may view God as that person that only provides and does not want to get to know you or connect with you emotionally and on other levels.

A different way to think about God is to see him as your lover since He has shown the greatest act of love to mankind (John 15:13). If you say you love someone you want to spend time talking to them all day. It can be a combination of phone calls, WhatsApp messages, Direct messages on social media and the likes. But you know being in constant communication with the people we love is very important for the quality of the relationship. This is the kind of energy that should be translated into our relationship with God. You gotta talk to him all day, every day.

When you don’t pray, it’s you telling God you don’t need Him. Ouch! This is a major shade for people that sing Tye Tribett's "What can I do" without praying daily. If you can go a day without praying then maybe you think you can do without God.🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

James 5:13(TPT) 13 Are there any believers in your fellowship suffering great hardship and distress? Encourage them to pray![a] Are there happy, cheerful ones among you? Encourage them to sing out their praises![b]

I need him in everything, I don’t know about you. God wants to be very involved in your life. He was to hear the details about everything that is going on in your life. Nothing is too insignificant or too big for him no matter how your words come out. Ask Him questions, let Him tell you the answers. Tell Him your concerns, don't let anyone make you feel like God is too big or inaccessible for you. Please, ask God questions.

Practical tips to praying:

  • Only a very few people feel like praying every day but we have to make it a daily compulsory routine until we can’t do without it. It may feel weird or unusual the first few times you set our to pray but stick with it. Be consistent in talking to God.
  • Take the first few minutes to talk to God when you wake up and the last few minutes before you sleep at night. It can be as easy as saying; "God Hi, I just want to say thank you for making me see a brand new day like this..."  Just pour your heart to Him. At night before bed, tell Him how your day went. How you feel. Trust me, prayer routines are good.
  • Turn away from things that keep your attention away from God, this will help you focus on him. If you write out how you use your time throughout the day, you may perhaps find that you spend 2 hours on Twitter or Facebook or Instagram explore page. Find time to hand out with your dad.
  • Pray in tongues in the middle of the day (on your lunch break, bathroom break). Just release your heavenly language in the atmosphere. God already knows what you need, He just wants to hear from you.
As believers, our first response to all things is prayer. We don't freak out! We don't worry! We don't wail! We pray!

If you know me, I love praying for people. I love it when people ask me to pray for or with them. It gives me so much joy to speak to God in prayers.

There is someone reading this, you have been struggling to pray for a while now because there is something you did that is obstructing you from getting into your prayer rhythm, I decree that every barrier be shattered right now in the name of Jesus. I tell you today, there is no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:1), the devil is only trying to hold something over your head to stop you from approaching God. See what God is saying:

Hebrews 4:16(TPT) So now we come freely and boldly to where love is enthroned,[a] to receive mercy’s kiss and discover the grace we urgently need to strengthen[b] us in our time of weakness.

No more hiding or feeling like God will not answer your prayers. He is asking you to come freely to His mercy seat and receive grace. His grace is all you need and it is very sufficient. It is more than enough to help you see that He loves you so much no matter what. No strings attached, No conditions. He just loves you because of what Jesus did on the cross of Calvary.

All your sins are forgiven. Oh yes, your past, present and future sins have all been forgotten by God. Stop punishing yourself by not accepting His forgiveness daily. There's an overflow of forgiveness from God. You are not the judge over your life, you have been declared not guilty by the judge in charge. The devil will use lies and use people to try to get you away from your father, who do you believe? The world or the Devil or the word of God?

Romans 3:22-24(TLB)But now God has shown us a different way to heaven[a]—not by “being good enough” and trying to keep his laws, but by a new way (though not new, really, for the Scriptures told about it long ago). Now God says he will accept and acquit us—declare us “not guilty”—if we trust Jesus Christ to take away our sins. And we all can be saved in this same way, by coming to Christ, no matter who we are or what we have been like. 23 Yes, all have sinned; all fall short of God’s glorious ideal; 24 yet now God declares us “not guilty” of offending him if we trust in Jesus Christ, who in his kindness freely takes away our sins.

There's someone reading this asking, "But I have prayed my heart out and nothing is happening yet". Keep standing erect in faith. Let your report about the infallible word of God stand. You know God is not a man, that He should lie. Stand erect on His words. Remember the fathers of faith, that kind of faith is what you should keep holding on to. Stand erect soldier, He is the same God forever! He will do it!

Hebrews 11:1-2(NIV)11 Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. This is what the ancients were commended for.

Be a man or woman of prayer. When people tell you about their issues, offer to pray for them. Don't just say "I'll pray for you", hold their hands and pray or call their phone to pray for them. Your prayer works and moves mountains, don't take it with levity. You are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus, therefore, you move things in the spirit.

James 5:16b (NKJV) The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.

When you pray, God equips you will wisdom, ideas, creative thoughts and many more to help you excel in life. It's not every time that you will get miracle money in your account. Sometimes, it is that idea you got in the place of prayers that will give you a viable business that brings in millions. Keep your mouth moving in conversations with Abba, He loves you all the time. There is no anger from Him towards you no matter what you've done. He loves you constantly.

"Prayer is simply a two-way conversation between you and God".- Billy Graham

Like the quote states, God is always talking back. I will post about meditation next week
With  love,
Bibi

  1. Thanks for sharing. Communicating with God is a vital way to build and solidify relationship with Him. It also reveals trust and faith in Him.

I was amazed to learn through a study that prayer actually reduces stress level and anxiety. This is in fact a good motivation for the unbelievers and not to say even the believers in God.

    Stay blessed.

What does it mean to be complete in Christ?

What does it mean to be complete in Christ? When you look at yourself, what do you see? Do you see someone who is imperfect and lacking in many areas? Do you sometimes find yourself thinking these thoughts? God is angry with me. I’m too dirty and damaged for Him to accept me. Why would God want to be with me when I’m a hot mess. Let me give you a secret, it doesn't matter how you feel or what you think. All that matters is what God has said in His word. His word says you are Complete in Christ! You are whole! Nothing missing, nothing lost, nothing broken! This is not by your deeds or something you are on your own. This is because you're in Christ!  Are you in Christ? Colossians 2:9-10 (NKJV) For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead [a]bodily; 10 and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all [b]principality and power. Colossians 2:9-10 (TPT) For he is the complete fullness of deity living in human form. 10 And our own completeness is now found in him . We are co

Do’s and Don’ts of a spiritual fast

Do’s and Don’ts of a spiritual fast  By Bibi Babatunde-Ikotun Hello, welcome to my blog. If you clicked on this link it’s either you’re fasting already or are planning to fast. The good thing is you’re planning to have an effective fast by seeking all the information you can get on this. I won’t waste much of your time and I’ll get into it. Don’ts of fasting -  Have a Transactional mindset : A long time ago I thought fasting was about doing something so God will bless you. This led to a string of disappointment because I never got what I wanted from him. After all, I deprived myself for God but He didn’t do his part. We must first understand that fasting is not to move God, it’s to help us align with the move he’s made. The bible says in Ephesians 1.3 (NKJV) Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ. God is always on our side, we need not deal with him on a transaction basis. We fast to tra
