Let's talk; Sexual assault and racial injustice (prayers included)

by Bibi Babtunde-Ikotun

Hi everyone, I hope we're doing well. I know this has been one of the most intense weeks in this decade. With everything going on in the world, it's okay to feel overwhelmed. I mean from racial injustice issues coming up from the United States and Canada (#JusticeforGeorgeFloyd and #JusticeforRegis) to sexual assault and rape issues in Nigeria (#JusticeforTina, #JusticeforUwa #JusticeforJennifer) it's overwhelming!

Today, we're going to be praying for healing for everyone that has experienced sexual assault and racial injustice. In times like this, we have to focus on Christ! There's nothing wrong with engaging in peaceful protests and advocacy but we must understand that life is extremely spiritual. Man is a Spirit that has a soul and lives in a body, everything that we see in the physical has a spiritual aspect to it.

For every woman, man or child that has experienced sexual assault or racial injustice, I want you to know that God loves you. He loves you to the ends of the earth. He sees your pain, ache and all that you feel. Nobody can understand what you've felt but God does. Nobody can understand how this horrible ordeal has impacted the way you see yourself but God still sees you as the amazing person He has made you. You're loved, consistently.

I personally can only imagine how horrible this week has been for you! But I believe that Jesus Christ can heal you! I know you may think the feelings may go with time but I want you to focus on Christ. He is the God that healeth thee. Let the Holy Spirit in, allow Him to work in you. It may be hard but give the Holy Spirit a chance, cast all the pain, regret, trauma at His feet. You're consistently loved by your father, God.

As for the angry black people and women in the world, your anger is valid! I am angry with you as well. In addition to our speaking up, educating people we must understand that the war is spiritual. As believers, we don't move by logic and reasoning, we move by the Spirit. We're the sons of God! we have to understand where the solution is, THE GOSPEL.

Ephesians 6:12 (AMPC) For we are not wrestling with flesh and blood [contending only with physical opponents], but against the despotisms, against the powers, against [the master spirits who are] the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spirit forces of wickedness in the heavenly (supernatural) sphere.

Everything going on is a result of the fall of man (Romans 5:12). Because of sin, human beings are naturally wicked and anti-God. But you know the way you were transformed by the Holy Spirit when you heard the gospel and believed in Jesus. You also know of the further transformation that occurred when you heard the word of God's grace. Although I won't say believers are the perfect ones, we have our mess as well. But, history shows that Christianity has really helped to lessen the evils in the world. The message of the gospel is the solution! It will always be the solution to every problem!

So as we advocate, we have to keep pushing people to Christ! He is the only one that can change lives! We can't engage in cancel culture especially if the person is an unbeliever. On what basis are you cancelling them? They don't have a regenerated spirit, they are still married to the old man. They are only walking in line with the nature of sin they are housed in. There's no new creation hence old things are still the order of the day.

2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV) Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Prayers for sexual assault survivors

  • Lord Jesus, we ask that you heal the hurt of everyone that has ever been through sexual assault. We pray that you mend their memories and restore all that is lost
  • Lord Jesus, we pray that all forms of lingering effects and traumas from that ordeal be gone.
  • Lord Jesus, we ask that you take away all sadness, anger, brokenness and fill them with the joy of the Holy ghost
  • Holy Spirit, we ask that you lead them throughout their lives journey. Not down a bitter path but in good paths. We ask that you teach them to trust again, love again and have hope again
  • Lord Jesus, we ask that you help them work through justice and accountability as they work towards healing
  • Lord Jesus, we ask that you touch the hearts of the ones who committed the heinous act. We ask that you convict, convert and illuminate their minds so they can understand the wrong they have done and never do it again.
  • Lord Jesus, we ask that you turn despair to hope,  torment to rest,  brokenness to healing,  agony to joy and darkness to light.

Prayers for people facing racial injustice

  • Lord Jesus, we pray for all those who have been hurt in their body, mind and spirit because of their race. We ask that you soothe their restless heart with hope and strengthen them with faith
  • Sweet Holy Spirit, heal your people’s wounds and transform brokenness into wholeness.
  • Lord Jesus, grant the arms of the government courage and wisdom, humility and grace, to act with justice.
  • Lord Jesus, grant all those that have been abused your divine peace that surpasses all understanding
  • Lord Jesus, we ask that you touch the hearts of those who harbour hate for the fellow man because of their race. We ask that you convict, convert and illuminate their minds so they can understand how wrong it is to hate your creation and begin to actively work to make the world a better place for those they ones hated
Thank you so much for reading to the very end, I appreciate your time! It means a lot to me. My earnest prayer is that the light of God floods through the nations of the earth and more people come into the salvation of our Lord Jesus Christ.

If you are reading this and you haven't had a chance to accept Jesus in your life, this is an opportunity for you to do so. When you believe in Him, your nature is changed from sinner to righteous. You become born of God by believing and the Holy Ghost comes to live inside of you. The Holy Spirit then helps you to live and do the things of God. On judgement day, there won't be a weight that judges you by your good and bad acts, the scale only sees who has believed and who hasn't. Beliving is Jesus is the only requirement for heaven.

Say this prayer out loud and believe it in your heart

Lord Jesus, for too long I’ve kept you out of my life. I know that I am a sinner and that I cannot save myself. No longer will I close the door when I hear you knocking. By faith, I gratefully receive your gift of salvation. I am ready to trust you as my Lord and Savior. Thank you, Lord Jesus, for coming to earth. I believe you are the Son of God who died on the cross for my sins and rose from the dead on the third day. Thank you for bearing my sins and giving me the gift of eternal life. I believe your words are true. Come into my heart, Lord Jesus, and be my Savior. Amen.

If you read this prayer, congratulations! You have now be grafted into the family of God. Please reach out to me if you'll like to learn more about the salvation you just received and the truth about Jesus. Please email me via bibilamour04@gmail.com. God bless you richly, welcome home.

What does it mean to be complete in Christ?

What does it mean to be complete in Christ? When you look at yourself, what do you see? Do you see someone who is imperfect and lacking in many areas? Do you sometimes find yourself thinking these thoughts? God is angry with me. I’m too dirty and damaged for Him to accept me. Why would God want to be with me when I’m a hot mess. Let me give you a secret, it doesn't matter how you feel or what you think. All that matters is what God has said in His word. His word says you are Complete in Christ! You are whole! Nothing missing, nothing lost, nothing broken! This is not by your deeds or something you are on your own. This is because you're in Christ!  Are you in Christ? Colossians 2:9-10 (NKJV) For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead [a]bodily; 10 and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all [b]principality and power. Colossians 2:9-10 (TPT) For he is the complete fullness of deity living in human form. 10 And our own completeness is now found in him . We are co

Do’s and Don’ts of a spiritual fast

Do’s and Don’ts of a spiritual fast  By Bibi Babatunde-Ikotun Hello, welcome to my blog. If you clicked on this link it’s either you’re fasting already or are planning to fast. The good thing is you’re planning to have an effective fast by seeking all the information you can get on this. I won’t waste much of your time and I’ll get into it. Don’ts of fasting -  Have a Transactional mindset : A long time ago I thought fasting was about doing something so God will bless you. This led to a string of disappointment because I never got what I wanted from him. After all, I deprived myself for God but He didn’t do his part. We must first understand that fasting is not to move God, it’s to help us align with the move he’s made. The bible says in Ephesians 1.3 (NKJV) Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ. God is always on our side, we need not deal with him on a transaction basis. We fast to tra

Smart money woman; personal finance tips

Smart money woman; personal finance tips The Smart Money woman series was really interesting, you should check it out on Netflix . After watching it, I got inspired to share these 5 personal finance tips. When it comes to money many people are going with the flow. But it requires intentionality, we must steward everything God has blessed us with.  I covered giving cheerfully but prudently, retirement funds, and many more.  I don't know all things personal finance but I believe that I am a smart money woman. I hope this helps you in your journey to financial freedom.  Proverbs 13.22a A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children,  With love, Bibi
