Key identities of a believer

Key Identities of a believer

Hello everyone, thank you so much for being an avid reader of my blog. You are amazing and I pray that all your heart desires come to pass in Jesus name. The topic for today is one that has got me very excited💃💃. Being in Christ is amazing but not knowing what that means can lead to a life of frustration. It is like being in line to get on an aeroplane and getting upgraded to first class. If you don’t know the perks of being in first class, you may end up behaving like you are stuck in economy. If you don’t know that a first class passenger has access to a lounge area with delicious foods and drinks while they wait for their flight, you may end up paying a lot of money for food in a non-relaxing side of the airport. What is the benefit of getting a free gift without knowing what comes with it? No benefit at all.

Let us start by answering this question. Who is a believer?  My simple definition for a believer is a person that believes in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus. Check out this post if you want to learn more, Simple Definition of a born again.

What are the key identities of a believer:

1. You are Complete in Christ

Colossians 2:9-10 (TPT) 9 For he is the complete fullness of deity living in human form. 10 And our own completeness is now found in him. We are completely filled with God as Christ’s fullness overflows within us. He is the Head[a] of every kingdom and authority in the universe!

As a believer, you have come into completion in Christ. If there was anything wrong in your life before, it ended as soon as you put on Christ i.e as soon as you believed in Jesus. There is nothing missing or broken with you, you have become brand new! Everything that is connected to your old life has disappeared, all things are fresh and brand new. See 2 Corinthians 5:17

2. You are one with Christ

1 John 4:17 (NKJV) Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world.

When you stepped into Christ, you became one with Him. Look at 1 Corinthians 6:17 We have become Christ! We no longer have an explanation for pain and suffering, because we are one with Christ, we can change situations instantly. We can perform miracles and turn situations around for better. This is who you are! You can’t have anything trying to torment you and you act like you don’t know who you have been united with! You take charge of that situation.

3. You are a new creation

2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: [a] The old has gone, the new is here!

You are not a renovation of your old self. You died with Jesus, you were buried with Jesus, you resurrected with Jesus. There is no trace to the old you. You have been declared not-guilty and have been acquitted by God in judgement. If anyone tries to come at you with your past, they have no legal standing to attack you because the person they are looking for does not exist anymore. See Galatians 2:22

4. You are a son not a slave in the kingdom of God
Galatians 3:26 (AMP) For you [who are born-again have been reborn from above—spiritually transformed, renewed, sanctified and] are all children of God [set apart for His purpose with full rights and privileges] through faith in Christ Jesus.

Have you heard some kind of prayers like “God I know I am nothing but a worm in your presence, please have mercy on me”? It makes me sad because as a believer, this is not who we are! We are joint heirs with Christ. We are seated with Jesus on the right hand of the father. How dare you see yourself as nothing when God sees you like everything. Please, start seeing yourself the way God sees you so your reality can match up with your identity in Jesus. Start acting like you are your father’s son! See Romans 8:17

5. You are Righteous in Christ

2 Corinthians 5:21 (AMP) 21 He made Christ who knew no sin to [judicially] be sin on our behalf, so that in Him we would become the righteousness of God [that is, we would be made acceptable to Him and placed in a right relationship with Him by His gracious lovingkindness]

You were made righteous as soon as you put your faith in Christ! You are now God’s very own righteousness because of the sacrifice of Jesus. Can you please stop looking down at yourself? Because God’s own blood runs through your vein, you are accepted by God. This is not by your works; it is only by the sacrifice of Jesus. See Romans 1:16-17 and 1 Corinthians15:10. Read Can a Christian be a sinner for a deeper explanation of being righteous.

6. You are special

1 Peter 2:9 (AMPC) But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a dedicated nation, [God’s] own [a]purchased, special people, that you may set forth the wonderful deeds and display the virtues and perfections of Him Who called you out of darkness into His marvellous light.

I used to suffer from low self-esteem (Check my story) but now I don't subscribe to it anymore in believers. Why? Firstly, you have been bought by the most expensive currency in the world, the blood of Jesus. God looked at you and said this person is worth dying for. He then died and gave you the free gift of heaven. Why do you still think so low of yourself when our God in heaven has called you special. Look in the mirror tonight and tell yourself, I am so special! Why take the definition the world has given you? Why take ugly? Broke? Poor? Sick? Undeserving of love? Why take those definitions when God has said you are special? Believe God and call yourself special today! This translates to the way you treat yourself and people around you. If God has called your staff a special person, why do you treat them like trash?

7. You are a citizen of Heaven

Philippians 3:20 (TLB) But our homeland is in heaven, where our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, is; and we are looking forward to his return from there.

We all know who ambassadors are right? They are men and women of a certain country who are stationed in another country to represent their homeland. Even if they live in another country for a number of years, they still belong to their home. Brothers and sisters that is who we are. Everyone who is in Christ is a bonafide citizen of heaven. Do you know what your passport to your country (heaven) is? Your passport is the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the seal of every believer  Ephesians 1:13). When it is time to go home, your president will check for your seal and give you smooth access into your home, no hiccup. You are only on this earth for an assignment, home is heaven! There is only one thing that can stop you from being a citizen i.e intentionally rejecting your passport (Holy Spirit). Relax, you belong to your home country forever.

8. You are blessed

Ephesians 1:3 (NKJV) Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ,

As you stepped into Christ, all those things chasing you and giving you sleepless nights seized! All those curses are no longer yours. Remember, you are a new creation! The curses can’t find you even if they tried. This is your confession! You are blessed beyond measures. You may be saying but I don’t feel blessed. It’s like having money in the bank if you don’t go to the bank to withdraw how will it get to you? You have to make daily confessions of who you are in Christ! You have to lay hold of all these blessings. You have to download these blessings with your spoken words of affirmation! Declare that you are blessed as many times as you can daily. Declare blessings all day. Don’t joke with positive declarations, the prayers of a righteous man are effective (James 5:16b The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective). And you know you are righteous because you are in Christ!😊😊

9. You are victorious and more than conquerors

Romans 8:37 (GNT) No, in all these things we have complete victory through him who loved us!

You may feel like you are not victorious or a conqueror because of life situations but it is the truth! This is who you are. A believer does not pray for victory, he or she prays from victory. You don't battle for many things, you have it already. This is who you are in Christ! You don't fast for victory, you fast from victory. This is who you are, it has to be embedded in your consciousness. Do you have a negative report from the doctors? Don't limit yourself to the report of flesh and blood. You are the product of a life-giving and quickening spirit. Speak your reality of victory into every situation consistently, you'd marvel at the results!

10. Your Sins Are Forgiven

2 Corinthians 5:17-21  (TLB) When someone becomes a Christian, he becomes a brand new person inside. He is not the same anymore. A new life has begun! 18 All these new things are from God who brought us back to himself through what Christ Jesus did. And God has given us the privilege of urging everyone to come into his favor and be reconciled to him. 19  For God was in Christ, restoring the world to himself, no longer counting men’s sins against them but blotting them out. This is the wonderful message he has given us to tell others. 20 We are Christ’s ambassadors. God is using us to speak to you: we beg you, as though Christ himself were here pleading with you, receive the love he offers you—be reconciled to God. 21 For God took the sinless Christ and poured into him our sins. Then, in exchange, he poured God’s goodness into us!

This is my favourite identity as a believer. All my sins are forgiven. Every single one of my sins! My past, present and future sins are forgiven. 💃💃💃 Jesus died, was buried and resurrected to take away the sins of the world. I have been reconciled with God. Now I have been called into the ministry of reconciliation! My job is to tell everyone that God is not angry with them. This is my favourite part of spreading the gospel. I love telling people no matter who they are or where they are from or what they have done that God is not angry with them. Hallelujah! To Jesus be my glory See Romans 4:7-8, Hebrews 10:15-18, 1 Peter 2:24.

This brings me to the end of this post today.

How do you feel?  I personally feel blessed reading the things God has called me just because I believe in Jesus! What do you think you can change about your faith walk seeing who you are through God's eyes? Here are some of my personal suggestions:
  • Change your prayer points: If you have been spending years praying for the death of your enemies and the likes, peace is better than war. You will never stop fighting the wars that ended when you step into Christ. Rest on His finished works and claim your victory over all things.
Proverbs 23:7a (KJV) For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he.
  • Renew your mind: If you are still thinking that generational curses are running after you, it's your mind that is giving birth to those results. You need to be grounded that there is nothing after you. You have put on Christ. Let the word of God deliver you from these thoughts.
  • See yourself through the lens of Christ: Change the way you see yourself. Let your identity in Christ become your reality. See and define yourself in Christ. You may not feel righteous every day but it is who you are.
  • Whatever you magnify, amplifies: If you choose to amplify your identity in Christ, it will be evident in your life. If you choose to magnify your issues, it will continue to multiply. If you choose to focus on your mistakes, the devil will use it to play tricks on your mind that turns you away from God. If you choose to amplify that you are righteous and a new creation, the Holy Spirit will convict you of your righteousness and help you make better decisions.
Stay grounded in your true self! This is who you are! This is who God says you are! Meditate on it until you believe it. Whose report will you believe today? God's report of you? Your report? or the world's report?

Thank you for reading to the end. Bookmark this so you can always come back to it. You can teach your friends and family about their identity as well.

When you understand your new identity in Christ, you'll be a stronger and more stable Christian. Your faith will work for you better, your prayer life will be enhanced, and you'll walk in a new level of authority. - Kenneth W. Hagin

  3. Modern automation relies heavily on machine-to-machine SIM cards. These M2M Sim Card allow for easy, borderless connectivity, making them useful for anything from monitoring distant equipment to controlling fleets of cars. It's quite astounding how they allow machines to 'speak' to one another, which in turn leads to improved productivity and operating efficiency.

What does it mean to be complete in Christ?

What does it mean to be complete in Christ? When you look at yourself, what do you see? Do you see someone who is imperfect and lacking in many areas? Do you sometimes find yourself thinking these thoughts? God is angry with me. I’m too dirty and damaged for Him to accept me. Why would God want to be with me when I’m a hot mess. Let me give you a secret, it doesn't matter how you feel or what you think. All that matters is what God has said in His word. His word says you are Complete in Christ! You are whole! Nothing missing, nothing lost, nothing broken! This is not by your deeds or something you are on your own. This is because you're in Christ!  Are you in Christ? Do’s and Don’ts of a spiritual fast

Do’s and Don’ts of a spiritual fast  By Bibi Babatunde-Ikotun Hello, welcome to my blog. If you clicked on this link it’s either you’re fasting already or are planning to fast. The good thing is you’re planning to have an effective fast by seeking all the information you can get on this. I won’t waste much of your time and I’ll get into it. Don’ts of fasting -  Have a Transactional mindset : A long time ago I thought fasting was about doing something so God will bless you. This led to a string of disappointment because I never got what I wanted from him. After all, I deprived myself for God but He didn’t do his part. We must first understand that fasting is not to move God, it’s to help us align with the move he’s made. The bible says in Ephesians 1.3 (NKJV) Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ. God is always on our side, we need not deal with him on a transaction basis. We fast to tra
