Knowing your Purpose

At a stage in life, we often feel like we should have everything figured out. Many times, this feeling comes when you reach major milestones like 21 or 25 or 30 and the likes. It is easy to get frustrated when you don't know your purpose but I want to encourage you that you were created for a reason, you are not an accident!

God crafted our purpose before we existed, and it was there before we gave our lives to God, so being confused is not an option. Whenever you feel lost or unclear pick up your life manual (the bible), it will help you understand that God did not create you for nothing. I will leave some bible verses below to help guide you.

A pastor once said "finding your purpose may not come in a revelation or vision where a voice tells you what your purpose is. Sometimes, your purpose comes to you as a random impression on your mind." It may be "How about you open a dry cleaning business" whereas you have never thought about drycleaning before. I totally agree with the pastor... an impression on people's mind has been the major source of fulfilment for many people in our society. Following an impression sounds ridiculous and I know that failure scares everyone. But, it is better to try and fail than not to try at all.

Many times we find ourselves in a job that we are using to pass time so we do not give it our all. After all, "it is not my dream job" forgetting that anyone that is diligent in their work will stand before kings and not ordinary men. If we are not faithful in a job that we are using to pass time, how can we be faithful in our dream job? These are things we have to think about when it comes to fulfilling our purpose. We have to develop an ownership mentality wherever we find ourselves. Do not do things haphazardly because it is not yours, treat everything as you will treat your own.

An ownership mentality will distinguish you amongst everyone you are working with. When your personal brand is diligence and excellence, you will get to where God wants you to be without any contest. People may not remember the company you work with, but they will remember how you did the work. This remembrance has the power to open many doors of success and fulfilment. Ownership mentality is not only for your work, it should be applied to everywhere your service is required. You don't have to wait for the pastor to ask you to do something all the time before you do it.

Don't be envious of other people's purpose, after all, we are all part of the body of Christ. The body is made up of many parts that work together in harmony to make sure we are fully functional. Because one person is in alter ministry and gets all the accolades, and you work behind the scenes without any accolades does not mean you are useless or less significant to the kingdom. It just means that we all play different parts in God's plan and all parts are important. To put this in perspective, a beautiful face gets the most attention on the body. Imagine if the heart decides to stop working because it does not get as much attention as the face, everything dies and the face is no more. Would you agree that the heart is very important to the body? Absolutely yes, but because we don't remember to appreciate the heart does not mean we don't need it. This shows that God puts us exactly where we need to be and every single one of us matter.

Going forward, let's begin to live a life free of confusion on the issue of finding our purpose. As believers, it is impossible to be confused because we believe God has a plan and purpose for every single one of us. If you don't believe, it's never too late to start. The purpose has been there before we came to this earth and is not influenced by our life choices. We have to continue to walk with God, be diligent and excellent. Don't spend time praying for God to give you a purpose that he did not design for you, pray so your life can align you with God's plan for you.

Let's go on and live a life of diligence and excellence so that our purpose will be made known to us.

"For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his son..." - Romans 8:29

With love,
Bibi

What does it mean to be complete in Christ?

What does it mean to be complete in Christ? When you look at yourself, what do you see? Do you see someone who is imperfect and lacking in many areas? Do you sometimes find yourself thinking these thoughts? God is angry with me. I’m too dirty and damaged for Him to accept me. Why would God want to be with me when I’m a hot mess. Let me give you a secret, it doesn't matter how you feel or what you think. All that matters is what God has said in His word. His word says you are Complete in Christ! You are whole! Nothing missing, nothing lost, nothing broken! This is not by your deeds or something you are on your own. This is because you're in Christ!  Are you in Christ? Colossians 2:9-10 (NKJV) For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead [a]bodily; 10 and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all [b]principality and power. Colossians 2:9-10 (TPT) For he is the complete fullness of deity living in human form. 10 And our own completeness is now found in him . We are co

Righteousness consciousness versus sin consciousness

Righteousness consciousness versus sin consciousness If you follow me on twitter for a while now, you will see that I always talk about how powerful your righteousness consciousness is compared to sin consciousness. I often roll my eyes when I see people discussing if something is sin or not sin. Do you know someone that is always talking about what is sin or isn’t sin? Or have you found yourself saying “I must be careful not to sin today, God help me not to sin” every day? This is being sin-conscious! You have not sinned yet but you are over-focused on the power of sin rather than the righteousness of God that you are as a believer . Hebrews 10:2-3 (TPT) For if animal sacrifices could once and for all eliminate sin, they would have ceased to be offered and the worshipers would have clean consciences. Instead, once was not enough so by the repetitive sacrifices year after year, the worshipers were continually reminded of their sins, with their hearts still impure. &q

Does God love me personally?

Does God love me personally? by Bibi Babatunde-Ikotun Do you ever wonder if God loves you personally? Or you’re sharing His love with the rest of the world? After all, John 3.16 says For God so loved the world, the world is 7 billion people. How can He possibly love you? This is why it's easy for us to think of His love as generally divided amongst all humans, we never get to see it in the personal details of our life. But I want to remind you of the truth that his love for you is really personalized. Answer me this, d o you know that if you were the only human on earth, He would still have sacrificed His life for you? Romans 5:8 (NKJV) But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Sometimes we think God’s love for us is dependent on our love for him. Like if we ever stopped loving Him, He will decide to stop loving us. This is untrue because the bible tells us in 1 John 4.9  (NKJV) We love Him because He first loved us
