How to truly live a Christ-Centered Life

How to truly live a Christ-Centered Life

There’s a difference between living for Jesus and living from Him. One will wear you out. The other will keep you grounded. If you’ve ever found yourself tired, always proving, constantly comparing, or wondering if you’re doing enough, this post is for you.

Let’s explore what it really means to live a Christ-centred life, where He is not an add-on but the anchor.

1. Christ Is the Center of the Bible, Not You

We often approach Scripture asking, “What does this say about me?” But the better question is, “What does this reveal about Jesus?”

From Genesis to Revelation, the Bible tells one story, which is JESUS! Let's see these verses that re-echo this truth.

Luke 24:27 (NIV) And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself

John 5:39 (NIV) You study [a] the Scriptures diligently because you think that in them you have eternal life. These are the very Scriptures that testify about me,

Hebrews 1:1–2 (NIV)   In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, 2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe.tells us that while God spoke through prophets, He now speaks through His Son.

I love the story of  David and Goliath! Sometimes it inspires us in times of trouble to think we are David and our problems are Goliath. Well NO! David points to Christ, the true and better warrior who wins the battle we could never fight.

If you read the Bible looking for yourself, you’ll walk away with cute quotes. But if you read it looking for Jesus, you’ll walk away transformed.

The Word and the Spirit always agree. The deeper you go in Scripture, the more clearly you’ll see Jesus.

2. Christ-Centred Preaching vs Feel-Good Preaching

Not every sermon that makes you cry is preaching the gospel. Some are just emotional TED Talks with a little Jesus sprinkled in.

Paul didn’t say in 1 Corinthians 1:23 that “We preach purpose.” He said, “We preach Christ crucified.”

1 Corinthians 1:23 (NIV) but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles,

Here are four common counterfeits to watch out for:

  • Teachings that emphasize that we work to earn God’s love by being “good enough.” Newsflash, you CAN'T! You need a saviour! You need the Spirit of God dwelling in you! You need salvation!

  • Teachings that emphasize only What Will Jesus Do as a cool trend as opposed to allowing the regeneration of man's spirit, leading to a transformation thus being like Christ.

  • Teachings that focus on doing good for the poor, opressed, destitute and all. While this is a beautiful offshoot of the Christian faith, it is not THE real deal. We must never ignore the truth about salvation.

These all sound inspiring, but none of them can save. Only the real gospel is the power onto Salvation (Romans 1.16)

3. Live From Christ, Not Just For Him

Say it with me: Christianity is not about DO, it’s about DONE.

  • Ephesians 2:8–10 says salvation is a gift, not by works.

  • Romans 5:8  reminds us Christ died for us while we were still dead in sin aka a hot mess.

  • Matthew 3:17 shows us Jesus was loved by the Father before He ever preached a sermon or healed the sick.

We are not hustling for heaven. We’re resting in grace, knowing our exact destination.

If your faith feels like a performance review, pause. You may be living for Jesus, but not from Him. Even obedience isn’t DIY. The Spirit that convicts is the same Spirit that reminds you, you’re still God’s child.

4. Holiness Is About Wholeness

Holiness is not about perfection. It’s about who has called you Holy. God says Be Holy because He is Holy, Guess who has God's spirit? The believer in Christ!

Holiness is not a “try harder” game. It’s what happens when Christ lives at the center.

When you live from identity instead of insecurity, holiness flows naturally. You don’t have to fake fruit. Real transformation starts from within. Holiness is our lifestyle, not our ladder to God. It’s how we show that Christ is alive in us.

Final Thoughts

Living a Christ-centred life isn’t a one-time decision. It’s a daily surrender. But the beauty is this: when Christ is the center, everything else holds together.

If this encouraged you, share it with someone who needs to lay down the struggle and come home to grace.

Do’s and Don’ts of a spiritual fast

Do’s and Don’ts of a spiritual fast  By Bibi Babatunde-Ikotun Hello, welcome to my blog. If you clicked on this link it’s either you’re fasting already or are planning to fast. The good thing is you’re planning to have an effective fast by seeking all the information you can get on this. I won’t waste much of your time and I’ll get into it. Don’ts of fasting -  Have a Transactional mindset : A long time ago I thought fasting was about doing something so God will bless you. This led to a string of disappointment because I never got what I wanted from him. After all, I deprived myself for God but He didn’t do his part. We must first understand that fasting is not to move God, it’s to help us align with the move he’s made. The bible says in Ephesians 1.3 (NKJV) Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ. God is always on our side, we need not deal with him on a transaction basis. ...

What does it mean to be complete in Christ?

What does it mean to be complete in Christ? When you look at yourself, what do you see? Do you see someone who is imperfect and lacking in many areas? Do you sometimes find yourself thinking these thoughts? God is angry with me. I’m too dirty and damaged for Him to accept me. Why would God want to be with me when I’m a hot mess. Let me give you a secret, it doesn't matter how you feel or what you think. All that matters is what God has said in His word. His word says you are Complete in Christ! You are whole! Nothing missing, nothing lost, nothing broken! This is not by your deeds or something you are on your own. This is because you're in Christ!  Are you in Christ? Colossians 2:9-10 (NKJV) For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead [a]bodily; 10 and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all [b]principality and power. Colossians 2:9-10 (TPT) For he is the complete fullness of deity living in human form. 10 And our own completeness is now found in him . We are co...
