How to make Christmas be more than the holidays

How to make Christmas be more than the holidays by Toyosi Adegunle  Christmas is the second most popular holiday of the year in which more than 160 countries of the world celebrate. Some celebrate Christmas as the birth of Jesus Christ, and to some, it is mostly a cultural/commercial celebration with days off. From Christmas trees, to carols, lights, decorations, Santa Claus, gifts and every other thing attached to Christmas, what's not to love about it. More than half of the world absolutely loves the bliss that this holiday brings. However, for believers, Christmas means the celebration of hope that was given to a sinful world. That God looked at the world and decided to come in flesh for us. God's birthday was recorded to have happened on December 25th and that's why we celebrate it annually like you'd celebrate the birth of your loved one. I think the most interesting fact is that Christians celebrate the life of Jesus every other day that isn’t the 25th of December...

End of year prayers

Prayers for the end of the year  By Bibi Babatunde-Ikotun Hi lovely people, how have you been? The year is slowly coming to an end and I believe in prayer for everything. I don’t know how your year has gone and if you’re like me you may have experienced some highs and lows. However, God has instructed us to give thanks in every situation (1 Thessalonians 5:18) and pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:16). This post is not about the importance of prayer but it will be imperative to mention something cogent about prayers. Listen, prayer is not only about supplications I.e asking God for stuff.  It’s not bad to ask for stuff, God enjoys taking care of our needs. However, prayer does something supernatural in us. It strengthens us, it refreshes us, it opens our minds to the revelation of God’s word and so much more. Prayer does WORK in us! It helps us come into the fullness of all God has destined for us. It’s so beautiful to pray and stay in prayers. So here are some few praye...

What are some Christian characters to live by?

What are some Christian characters to live by? by Toyosi Adegunle "People no longer read the Bible, they now read you, a believer." If I had a dollar for every time I've heard this, trust me, I'll be swimming in millions right now, but I don't even know how to swim in real life, speak less of swimming in money, but I'll get there. Amen? 👀 Somehow, I had a problem with that statement because it lowkey felt like putting pressure on a child of God that is actually on a journey to getting a hang of a lot of things about their spirituality or person in Christ. I was always quick to tell people never to say that again, and just simply read their Bible, follow and know God for themselves and stop reading someone that is not even there yet.  Maybe I still feel this way, but with a twist and more insight to it.  I've been on an unintentional Twitter break because it's not easy to switch on and switch off your VPN every minute. Can we agree it's tiring? 😪 ...

10 things Christian couples should talk about before marriage

10 things Christian couples should talk about before marriage by Bibi Babatunde-Ikotun Hi Bi-blings, it's been a hot minute I did a post on relationship and marriage. I guess it's timely because my 2 years wedding anniversary is next week and I'm in the romantic love space so I figured I might as well. So why is it important to discuss these things? Well, it's necessary because it eliminates a lot of headaches you may have along the way. It may not eliminate it all completely but there won't be any surprises. Imagine if after you said "I do", the person reveals that they are not interested in children and you want 2 kids. Where would you start from? There are so many conflicts that can be avoided altogether by having these difficult conversations before you say I do. Money Listen, money is very important in marriage. If you're not talking about your money habits now, you are setting yourself up for hard conversations down the line. Ask questions about ...

Does God love me personally?

Does God love me personally? by Bibi Babatunde-Ikotun Do you ever wonder if God loves you personally? Or you’re sharing His love with the rest of the world? After all, John 3.16 says For God so loved the world, the world is 7 billion people. How can He possibly love you? This is why it's easy for us to think of His love as generally divided amongst all humans, we never get to see it in the personal details of our life. But I want to remind you of the truth that his love for you is really personalized. Answer me this, d o you know that if you were the only human on earth, He would still have sacrificed His life for you? Romans 5:8 (NKJV) But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Sometimes we think God’s love for us is dependent on our love for him. Like if we ever stopped loving Him, He will decide to stop loving us. This is untrue because the bible tells us in 1 John 4.9  (NKJV) We love Him because He firs...
